The Irish writer, famous for his Artemis Fowl fairy stories, has the blessing of Adams' widow, Jane Belson, to keep on the hottest science fiction fable. Called "And Another Thing," the new novel will be outlined in October 2009. Colfer expounded he used to be an enormous fan of the first books, which started as a BBC radio serial. "For years I have been finishing this awesome story in my head and now I have the chance to do it in the genuine world," he revealed in an announcement. The humorous books tell the story about a hapless Englishman called Arthur Dent who travels the universe after the Earth is demolished to make space for a hyperspace bypass.

The fable centers on the search for the solution to "life, the universe and everything," which after a long wait turns out to be 42. Adams died from a coronary in California in 2001 at the age of 49. He had was hoping to complete the series with a 6th novel. "Five appears to be an inaccurate sort of number ; 6 is a better sort of number," he once related.
